Hideaway by Ahama is situated in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, boasting geographical and ecological features typical of the Sub-Himalayan belt. Occupying an entire hill in the Kumaon Himalayas, it is surrounded on three sides by dense Sal forest, creating a natural link to the renowned Jim Corbett National Park. The area showcases diverse topography, including broadleaved deciduous forest, riverine vegetation, scrubland, grassland, gorges, and ravines, providing a habitat for a variety of rare wildlife. The Sitabani reserve hosts over 600 species of resident and migrating birds throughout the year, benefitting from its position as part of the trans-Himalayan birding corridor. This ensures the presence of both plain and mountain birds during latitudinal and altitudinal migration patterns. Noteworthy Himalayan animal species, such as the Himalayan Black Bear, Himalayan weasel, Yellow-throated Pine Marten, Himalayan Goral, and Serow, frequent the reserve, particularly in the winter months. Indian leopards in the area strategically inhabit craggy cliffs and gorges to minimize interactions with the dominant predator, the Royal Bengal Tiger, which prefers the thickly forested valleys and lowlands. Additionally, herds of Asiatic Elephants traverse the bamboo plantations within the nature reserve during migrations between the core and buffer areas of Jim Corbett National Park.
